Jim Kerr chooses his Tracks of My Years

Simple Minds frontman Jim Kerr chooses his Tracks of My Years all this week. Plus, there's Vernon's music quiz Ten to the Top and a new Album of the Week.

Glasgow’s own Jim Kerr shares his musical journey with Vernon all this week on Tracks of My Years.

Forming in 1977, Simple Minds and Jim Kerr have been a constant part of the musical landscape achieving five number one albums on the UK Album Chart and selling more than 60 million albums, their most recent being Direction of the Heart, which came out last October.

The iconic single Don’t You Forget About Me featured on the soundtrack to The Breakfast Club, and their other big hits include Alive and Kicking, Waterfront, Sanctify Yourself and Glittering Prize.

Following the huge success of 2022’s rapturously received 40 Years Of Hits Tour, Simple Minds are back out on tour next year, starting at Leeds Arena on 15 March, and the live album - New Gold Dream: Live from Paisley Abbey - comes out in mid-October.

There'll also be more audio nuggets as we dive in to the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Archive in Vernon's Vault, plus the mid-morning music quiz Ten to the Top and a brand new Record and Album of the Week.

Whatever you're up to, Vern wants to hear from you: email vernon@bbc.co.uk - and if you’d like to apply to take part in Ten to the Top, the address you need is tentothetop@bbc.co.uk.
