Alice Cooper
Shock rocker Alice Cooper joins Johnnie to talk about his wild times in the 1970s.
The legend that is Alice Cooper joins Johnnie midway through his American tour to talk about his rise to stardom in the 70s.
During the late 60s, he toured as The Alice Cooper band, and, after a particularly bad gig at a Los Angeles club, ended up playing to ten people. However, in a strange twist of events, because of that gig, the band somehow ended up auditioning for Frank Zappa’s label Straight records. They arrived at 7am instead of 7pm and Zappa signed them on the spot.
Throughout the early 70s they released hit albums such as School’s Out and Billion Dollar Babies before the group disbanded in 1975 and Alice went solo. You'll hear his breakout hit I'm Eighteen as well as one of his favourite Paul McCartney tunes.
Elsewhere on the show, Johnnie's Jukebox reaches the heady heights of number 513. There are stories from This Week in Music courtesy of the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Archives, plus Johnnie's got another BTO - Better Than (the) Original - as chosen by you.
