Part 3 of Steve Lamacq's Summer Soundclash series, and today Steve takes on comedian, broadcaster and the World鈥檚 biggest Pearl Jam fan 鈥 Chris McCausland.
The host of Radio 4鈥檚 You Heard It Here First, Chris first started as a web developer until deteriorating eyesight prompted a change in career direction. He first gave stand-up a go in July 2003 鈥 within a year, he won the Jongleurs J20 Last Laugh contest, came runner up in the Laughing Horse New Act Of The Year and placed third in Channel 4鈥檚 So You Think You鈥檙e Funny. This led to international touring and opportunities across radio and television. 20 years later and Chris is one of the biggest comedy acts on the UK.
Outside of stand up, Chris has appeared as Rudi the market trader in the CBeebies series Me Too! This was followed by appearances on At The Comedy Store, Would I Lie To You, Have I Got News For You and 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown. He has also appeared on Live At The Apollo three times, and last month, he presented the travelogue Wonders Of The World I Can鈥檛 See 鈥 exploring whether the tourist trail can offer any pleasures to those who can鈥檛 physically see the big attractions.
But music has always been a constant, earlier this year he appeared on 成人快手 Radio 4鈥檚 The Museum Of Curiosity 鈥 his hypothetical donation to the imaginary museum was 鈥渁 vinyl record.鈥
Ahead of his new stand-up tour which hits the road in January, he joins Steve to present an hour of music of which he鈥檚 threatened that 90% will be Pearl Jam!
