But now a controversial bonfire in the Bogside could be replaced by a music festival. A council motion calling for funding for a music event on 15th August received unanimous support. Lilian Seenoi Barr, an SDLP councillor who is chair of the council's Bonfire Working Group, tells The North West Today the plan followed talks between residents and young people about the future of the annual bonfire in Meenan Square.
