Hear Lauren in conversation with PJ Harvey and her collaborators John Parish and Flood, discussing PJ's upcoming 10th album I Inside the Old Year Dying, which is out on Friday. This new album is the first from the acclaimed singer-songwriter since 2016's The Hope Six Demolition Project. According to the double Mercury Prize-winning artist, the album was written over a period of three weeks, although stemmed from ideas dating back to 2017 when she felt she had lost her connection with music. She was inspired by advice from film-maker Steve McQueen, who told her to ignore the 鈥榩rocess of writing an album鈥�, and instead rediscover why she first fell in love with 鈥渨ords, images and music鈥�. So far, we've heard the singles 'A Child's Question, August' and 'I Inside The Old I Dying'.

John Parish is a musician, composer and producer who has worked with PJ since the 1990s, regularly co-writing, producing and performing with her. Flood, aka Mark Ellis, is a producer and engineer who has worked with some of the biggest names in music including New Order, Depeche Mode, The Killers, Nine Inch Nails and U2. He has also worked with PJ across several of her albums so far, including the Mercury Prize-winning Let England Shake.
