"For the life of me I can iron nothing!" Sean says. "I was telling a friend of mine that I'm useless at ironing. When I iron trousers I always leave them shiny, especially black trousers. You know the way children will get the laces grubby? So she would toss them into the washing machine. And then, she'd iron them."

Thomasina looks at Sean. "Would you iron shoelaces?" Sean asks.

"Yes," she says, "but only if they were wrinkly."
