'Would you iron shoelaces?'
Sean asks Thomasina if she would iron shoelaces, but only if they were wrinkly.
"For the life of me I can iron nothing!" Sean says. "I was telling a friend of mine that I'm useless at ironing. When I iron trousers I always leave them shiny, especially black trousers. Or else I would leave railway lines on them. The double seam. My friend told me he could do this and he could that. And he told me that when his children were younger, you know the way you put the wee trainers into the washing machine? He says his wife would wash the laces. You know the way children will get the laces grubby? So she would toss them into the washing machine. And then, she'd iron them."
Thomasina looks at Sean. "Would you iron shoelaces?" Sean asks.
"Yes," she says, "but only if they were wrinkly."
