Elena and Igor from Daughter join Steve to chat about the band's brand-new album - Stereo Mind Game.
‘Stereo Mind Game’ is Daughter’s third studio album, their first for 7 years and the follow up 2016’s ‘Not to Disappear.’ The band join Steve to talk about the album which was written in a number of different locations - Devon, Bristol, London, San Diego, Portland (Oregon) and Vancouver. The writing and recording process goes back several years – with the band exchanging ideas between the different locations they've lived in across the world. With further delay then forced by the COVID lockdowns, it was only in 2021 when Elena and Igor could physically record together, mostly at Middle Farm Studios in Devon, with Remi (based in Portland, Oregon) recording his drum parts in Bocce Studio in Vancouver, Washington.
The conversation follows the inception, writing and recording of the album, delves into the themes of separation and desire for connection that are found throughout and the band also discuss their reason not to perform live shows around the release of this album for the time being.
