In Youth We Trust - How the Prince's Trust Changed My Life
This programme features incredible stories from those whose careers were kickstarted by the trust, including actors Idris Elba and David Oyelowo, presented by Jeremy Vine.
In 1976, after completing his time in the Royal Navy, the then Prince of Wales used his severance pay to set up an organisation that has gone on to help over one million young people, many of them from disadvantaged beginnings.
In the statement after founding The Prince鈥檚 Trust, His Royal Highness said: 'What struck me was that young people weren鈥檛 being given the opportunities quickly enough. No one was putting the trust in them they needed.'
This programme will feature incredibly moving stories from those whose lives have been changed by The Trust, that includes actors Idris Elba and David Oyelowo, magician Dynamo and musicians Guy Garvey and The Stereophonics. Actor Colin Salmon will share with us how he became one of the longest serving celebrity ambassadors, and we will hear from some of the stars who have collaborated and starred in their major concerts, such as Phil Collins, Paul Young, Jools Holland and Emma Bunton - all of them giving their time and support as ambassadors for The Trust. Plus, we will hear the story of how the Trust was born from journalist and broadcaster Jon Snow, and how it continues to go from strength to strength from its CEO Jonathan Townsend.
