Cerys chats to Grammy-nominated, French-Lebanese trumpet virtuoso Ibrahim Maalouf.

Ibrahim has been recognised for blending genres from rap to jazz with Middle Eastern flavours with his custom-made trumpet (it has a fourth valve, so he can play quarter tones). Last year Ibrahim released a collaborative album with Benin's Angelique Kidjo, Queen of Sheba which was nominated for a Grammy Award, making Ibrahim the first Lebanese instrumentalist to be nominated. At the tail end of 2022 Ibrahim released his sixteenth studio album, Capacity to Love, which includes collaborations with Pos of De La Soul, Gregory Porter and Erick The Architect.
