Your daily classical soundtrack

Take time out with a 30-minute eclectic soundscape of music, from George Gershwin to Emilie Mayer, Johann Sebastian Bach and Paul Simon.

We start with Nigerian composer Fela Sowande's most famous piece, the 'African Suite', before two pieces that put wind instruments in the spotlight: the bassoon for Camille Saint-Sa毛ns and the flute for J. S. Bach. It takes Mozart to add a bit of magic to it with an aria from 'Die Zauberfl枚te', before the piano of Paul Simon rearranged by Philip Glass finds how silence sounds. George Gershwin is next with 'Somebody loves me', from 'Lady be good', and indeed two genius ladies to conclude this mixtape, with H茅l猫ne de Montgeroult, followed by Emilie Mayer in her triumphant military symphony.
