"I think we started using the word, mum, in the 1990s."
Paddy Digit says he supports Sean on the Mammy issue.
"I'm with you on the mammy issue," says Paddy Digit.
Sean was speaking on the show yesterday about the use of the word, mum. He says his mother would have hit him with a wet dishcloth if he'd used it with her.
"I want to ask the Eyebrowettes," he says, "when did we start using the word, mum, in Northern Ireland? I think it was the 1990s."
Janet suggests it might have come from America.
"No!" Sean says. "The Americans say mom. Mum is English."
"It was always Mammy for me," Paddy says. "I can't take the word, mum. Or ma!"
"People started to use the word, mum, when we started to use the word, chippie," says Brendan in Bishop Street."
"Do I say chippie?" Sean says. "Thank you for that information."
