Who are sport's environmental champions and how are they working to protect the planet? Hosted by Ella Al-Shamahi and Mark Watson.
What does sport have to do with climate action? A quick and entertaining look at how the two are intertwined and the impact they have on each other, while telling some award-worthy stories. Hosted by environmentally friendly comedians Ella Al-Shamahi (Our Changing Planet) and Mark Watson (Seriously, Though, The Planet), these inaugural awards are celebrating individuals and organisations from across the globe who are actively contributing to a more sustainable future through their sporting profile and practices.
From Brazil to Australia, and net-zero to biodiversity, these awards are as wide-reaching geographically as they are environmentally. And with appearances from motorsport to taekwondo, the range of sports taking the lead and going for gold in the race to become more sustainable is also vast.
In keeping with the theme, we are recycling and reusing wherever possible, sharing the Match of the Day 2 set, dusting off the Grandstand theme tune, even the awards themselves are made from 100% recycled material, and every element of the programme has been planned and produced with special care to limit environmental impacts wherever possible.
Which up-and-coming athlete is using the power of football to raise awareness? What sporting event is leading the way in reducing their own emissions? And who will be named the 成人快手 Green Sport Awards Athlete of the Year 2022?
