Today, to mark the 50th anniversary of the seminal Nuggets psychedelic compilation album, they present a special show dedicated to psychedelic music from across the decades. They chat to musician 鈥� and man behind the Nuggets album - Lenny Kaye and play some of their favourite psychedelia and psych-influenced tracks.

Lenny, who has worked with a wide range of artists over the years, is well known as the guitarist for Patti Smith. Fifty years ago, he put together a compilation album of American psychedelic and garage rock tracks from the 1960鈥檚 by bands such as The Electric Prunes, The Standells and The Seeds. Released on 2nd October 1972 and titled 鈥楴uggets: Original Artyfacts from the First Psychedelic Era, 1965鈥�1968鈥� the album was incredibly influential, bringing the tracks and psychedelic sounds to a new generation of musicians and music-lovers.

Mark and Stuart hear from Lenny about his love of the genre, how he put the album together and its legacy 50 years on. Lenny also chats about working with Patti Smith and his latest projects.

All today鈥檚 music has a psychedelic vibe... from the guitar bands of the Nuggets compilation to psychedelic soul, folk, pop and psych-rock from the last five decades. Plus music that has utilised, or been influenced by, psychedelic sounds... in the genres of dance, hip hop, indie and beyond. With tracks from artists including Jimi Hendrix, Jane Weaver, The Temptations and The Stone Roses.
