"Will you tell me if your repertoire goes in that direction?"
Sean says there's jazz, and then there's "real jazz".
"Sean, I have not been a listener for long," says a texter. "But if I tell you the stuff I love will you tell me if your repertoire goes in that direction? I like Stranger on the Shore–"
"Yes," Sean says, "so do I."
"Stardust?"
"Yes."
"Deep Purple?"
"Yes. OK. Take it or leave it."
"Is that too jazzy for you, Mr Coyle? You see I'm mad about jazz."
"Yes, well I like a bit of jazz," Sean says. "But there's jazz, and then there's jazz. And the jazz that I like is, Chris Barber. I like Kenny Ball. And I like Acker Bilk. That kind of stuff. But then there's real jazz. I've got to stand back and say, I'm out of my depth."
With music from Manfred Mann, Tom Jones, Engelbert Humperdinck, and more.
