Gary Davies sits in with Betty Boo choosing the Tracks of My Years
Singer Betty Boo chooses the Tracks of My Years. Gary has your love song dedications plus more from the nation's favourite music quiz, PopMaster.
Singer Betty Boo chooses the Tracks of My Years all week with Gary.
Betty is a Brit and Ivor Novello Award-winning singer/songwriter/producer from west London, and rose to fame after a chance meeting in McDonalds with Public Enemy, who she ended up supporting on tour in the US.
In 1989, she featured as guest vocalist on The Beatmasters’ Top 10 single 'Hey DJ/I Can't Dance'. Her first solo single - 'Doin’ The Do' - was released the following year and announced Betty Boo as a phenomenon in her own right. 'Doin’ The Do' and the follow up 'Where Are You Baby?' were both written and demoed by Betty Boo in her bedroom using basic sampling gear - a process she would return to in recent years after a period of writer’s block.
Betty released two albums - 'Boomania' and 'GRRR! It’s Betty Boo' - and then mostly retired from the public eye. But then earlier this year, she released the Human League-sampling banger 'Get Me To The Weekend' - her first solo music in three decades.
In August Betty releases her new single 'Right By Your Side', a duet with multiple Brit Award nominated singer-songwriter David Gray. This is the third single released by Betty Boo in 2022, and a new album is due for release later this year.
The next two tracks Betty Boo has chosen come from Blondie and The Specials.
Gary's got another round of the legendary PopMaster music quiz and your dedications with today's love song. There's also the record and album of the week. If you want to contact the show, just email gary.davies@bbc.co.uk.
