Love Island preview, Gaelic Bard Aonghas MacNeacail and author Claire Alexander

Novelist James Kelman, singer Mary Ann Kennedy and poet Meg Bateman look ahead to the 80th birthday concert of one of Scotland's most celebrated poets, Aonghas MacNeacail.

Janice will be looking ahead to the celebrations of one of Scotland’s most celebrated poets, the Gaelic bard, Aonghas MacNeacail. Singer and musician Mary Ann Kennedy and Gaelic poet Meg Bateman will be performing at the Queens Hall for the celebratory evening concert and will also join Janice along with old friend of Aonghas’ and award-winning novelist, James Kelman.

And in complete contrast, we look ahead to the new series of the wildly successful reality show, Love Island with entertainment reporter Rebecca Twomey. This year will see the first deaf contestant, Tasha Ghouri and as the show strives to be more eco-friendly the cast will be wearing second hand or pre-loved clothes.

We’ll hear from Scottish author Claire Alexander about her debut novel, ‘Meredith Alone’ written pre-pandemic and which invites you into the life of a woman who hasn't left her home for three years.

And following the news of the knighthood awarded to Sir Ian Rankin, we delve through the archives to when Janice took a trip around Edinburgh for a tour of key Inspector Rebus locations.

Janice will also be announcing our Single of the Week.
