The Secretary of State is to hold talks today aimed at restoring an Executive after last week's historic election.

It may have taken far longer than expected, but all the votes are now counted , 90 MLAs have been returned - and for the first time in history the biggest party in Northern Ireland is nationalist. Sinn Fein have won the most seats and Michelle O'Neill would become First Minister if - and it is a big one - the DUP agree to go into Government. The other big winners from the election were Alliance who surged from fifth to the third largest party in Northern Ireland, behind the DUP.
