"Have you ever heard," says Stretch in Ballymena, "of the old superstition, 'saluting the magpie'?"
"Well," Sean says, "I think I have, but I've never done that."
"Can you or anyone tell me what it's all about?"
"Did you ever salute a magpie?" Sean asks the girls.
Thomasina says she does it. Janet says she knows some people who spit.
"What do you mean? Spit on the poor magpie? I think the magpie gets bad press.
