A spiritual comment and prayer to begin the day with Sadia Azmat, Stand-up comedian and writer

Good Morning

As a comedian, one of the best parts of my job is bringing a smile to people鈥檚 faces.

There are so many reasons to smile. For me it鈥檚 the lovely squirrel that climbs on my balcony each morning. There鈥檚 the voicenotes from my friends. And of course the kindness of strangers.

A smile says so much by saying so little. It can help you forget life鈥檚 worries. A reminder of that inner strength we all possess, it is healing.

In the narration of a hadith, it is reported that Prophet Mohammed (Peace and blessings upon him) said 鈥淪miling in the face of your brother (another) is an act of charity,鈥 which means that smiling at others is regarded as a good deed and carries the same weight as giving to charity.

So join me in beginning this wonderful morning, with a smile.

I ask you to look for the reasons in your life to keep smiling.

Our Merciful Lord let us try to be the smile for people who are struggling.

Ameen

Peace and blessings be upon you.
