An hour of experimental genre-bending music in light of the innovative multidisciplinary artist's recent passing. The first woman to be signed by Warp in the 1990s, Mira Calix defied boundaries throughout her career which spanned multiple albums, large scale public art works, sculptures and soundtracks. An uncategorizable but highly distinctive sound that straddles sound collage, classical, ambient and electronic music, Calix's work is rhythmic, playful and utterly compelling. This hour long playlist includes her soundtrack work for the Royal Shakespeare Company's 2017 production of Julius Caesar as well as her 2002 commission from the Natural History Museum of Geneva which saw her sample a tank of insects live on stage.
