Brothers in Piping
The definitive pipe music programme, featuring news and recordings from the piping world, and including sets from three pairs of brothers from Edinburgh, Fife and Canada.
Gary West introduces more high quality music of the bagpipe, including an exploration of the contribution made by three pairs of award-winning piping brothers, Gregor and Iain Speirs from Edinburgh, Jim and Dougie Murray from Fife, and Terry and Jack Lee from British Columbia leading their world-beating pipe band, the Simon Fraser University. Our pibroch tonight is one of the classics, an anonymously composed tune from late eighteenth century Sutherland, Isobel MacKay. And we stay in the north west of Scotland for a set from the highly talented students of the National Centre of Excellence in Traditional Music based in Plockton, Wester Ross.
