Violinist James Ehnes and Andrew Armstrong open this lunchtime concert with Brahms鈥檚 lyrical second violin sonata written the summer of 1886 in Thun, Switzerland, a place he described as 鈥渟o full of melodies that one has to be careful not to step on them.鈥� The Benedetti Elschenbroich Grynyuk Trio follow with Schumann鈥檚 First Piano Trio, written in a 鈥榯ime of gloomy moods鈥� with a restless counterpoint between the instruments.
