Chamber music by Brahms and Schumann from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (3/4)

Violinist James Ehnes and pianist Andrew Armstrong perform chamber music by Brahms and Schumann alongside the Benedetti Elschenbroich Grynyuk Trio.

Violinist James Ehnes and Andrew Armstrong open this lunchtime concert with Brahms鈥檚 lyrical second violin sonata written the summer of 1886 in Thun, Switzerland, a place he described as 鈥渟o full of melodies that one has to be careful not to step on them.鈥 The Benedetti Elschenbroich Grynyuk Trio follow with Schumann鈥檚 First Piano Trio, written in a 鈥榯ime of gloomy moods鈥 with a restless counterpoint between the instruments.
