Kate E Deeming鈥檚 idea of entertainment is dancing along her neighbourhood鈥檚 streets dressed as a lemon. So why is it so hard to find fun things for her son to do there?
Kate E. Deeming is well-known in her neighbourhood as a dancer with many personas - the Disco Chicken, the Boogie Unicorn, Dance-stronaut鈥�
Last year, she danced 1000 kilometres along her neighbourhood鈥檚 streets to raise money for her local school. She did it because there wasn鈥檛 enough money to provide extra-curricular activities for her nine year old son. And she did it all dressed as a Christmas tree.
Now she鈥檚 sewing together a new costume and returning to the streets of her neighbourhood of Pollokshields in Glasgow. With minimal green space and the community centre closed down, she wants to know why it has become so hard to find fun stuff for her son to do in her local area.
In her quest to find answers she heads to a successful community centre in Castlemilk, a theatre programme in Edinburgh that picks kids up straight from school and hears all about why Finland loves hobbies so much.
