Looking ahead to World Book Day, hearing from BPUR - seeking to ban the political use of religion for the sake of peace and David Pratt's new documentary 'Pictures from Iraq'
Throughout history people have spoken about their experience of hearing voices and seeing visions, often described as a religious occurrence. Psychotherapist and Director of The Harvest Clinic Angela Trainer and Reverend Phillip Blackledge, Rector of Holy Trinity in Melrose, discuss how our understanding of what lies behind these phenomena has changed over time.
This Thursday marks the 25th anniversary of World Book Day. Reverend Philip Blackledge and children鈥檚 author Pamela Butchart share where their love of reading came from and why reading for pleasure can have such an influence on a child鈥檚 future success, regardless of their family circumstances.
Dr Susan Buckham, the Graveyards Project Manager with Edinburgh World Heritage Trust, explains how their work at Greyfriar鈥檚 Kirkyard has revealed a new perspective on the past.
A conference dedicated to world peace gets underway next week against the background of escalating violence in Ukraine. Among the attendees are Struan Stevenson and Salman Sarhan from an organisation called Ban the Political Use of Religion. They join Tony along with journalist and war photographer David Pratt to explore how taking religion out of the political sphere can bring about a more peaceful world.
A new guide has just been published to help journalists accurately report on violence against ethnic minority women. One of its creators, Nyla Khan, shares her personal experience of being forced into marriage, while Scotland-based French-Journalist Assa Samak茅-Roman and journalist David Pratt discuss how journalists can ethically and accurately report on violence against women from an ethnic minority background.
War photographer David Pratt talks about new documentary Pictures From Iraq, which premieres at this year鈥檚 Glasgow Film Festival. It retraces David鈥檚 steps back to the many stories he covered across the country.
