Simple Minds - chart-topping rock band - perform live at Maida Vale accompanied by the 成人快手 Concert Orchestra for Radio 2's Piano Room Month. They are the latest star act to join the station's biggest celebration of live music in a decade. Other artists still to come in this final week include Emeli Sande, Jamie Cullum and Ed Sheeran.

Best known for their hit singles 'Don't You (Forget About Me), 'Glittering Prize' and 'Belfast Child' in the eighties, Simple Minds have thus far achieved five UK Album Number ones and sold more than 60 million albums worldwide. In January this year they released 'Act Of Love' - a former live favourite - as a one-off single to mark the anniversary of their very first performance at Glasgow's Satellite City on 17 January 1978.

Band frontman Jim Kerr explains: 鈥極ver the years people have asked - when did you think Simple Minds had the potential to make it? My stock answer was always, Oh, we didn鈥檛 really think about that. But I realise now that I wasn鈥檛 telling the truth. I believed we had something special as soon as I heard Charlie (Burchill) play the riff on 鈥楢ct Of Love鈥�.鈥�

Next month they embark on their long-awaited a world tour to celebrate 40 years of hits, arriving in the UK on the 31st March.

Radio 2 delivered live music to listeners throughout the lockdown with House Music sessions - launched in 2020 - featuring some of the biggest names in music, including Rag N Bone Man, Barry Manilow, Melanie C, Cliff Richard, Ronan Keating, Travis, Aloe Blacc and Nell Bryden, with many accompanied remotely by the 成人快手 Concert Orchestra.
