Curt Smith

Curt Smith, co-founder of Tears For Fears alongside childhood friend Roland Orzabal, chooses his Tracks Of My Years.

Curt Smith of Tears For Fears chooses his Tracks Of My Years all this week, plus PopMaster is back for 2022! Ken also has a new Record and Album Of The Week, and The Love Song is at 10.15.

Curt and childhood friend Roland Orzabal founded Tears For Fears from the ashes of their earlier group Graduate in 1981, and their debut album, 1983's The Hurting, reached no.1 in the UK and produced three international hit singles – "Mad World", "Change", and "Pale Shelter".

They enjoyed further success before an acrimonious split in 1991, and Curt went on to collaborate with several other artists and producers before Tears For Fears reformed in 2004.

However it's only now Curt and Roland have got round to finally making the follow-up album 'The Tipping Point', which will be released early in 2022. The title track has already been heavily playlisted on Radio 2, and the album is described as "one that vividly recalls the depth and emotional force of the group’s earliest triumphs."
