Film director Ridley Scott and actress Jodie Comer chat to Zoe about their new historical drama, The Last Duel. It is based on the book of the same name by Eric Jager, with a screenplay by Nicole Holofcener, Ben Affleck, and Matt Damon. Matt, Ben and Adam Driver also star in the film. It tells the story of the December 29, 1386, trial by combat in which the Norman knight Jean de Carrouges squared off in a duel against squire Jacques Le Gris.
Bob Geldof shares new music from The Boomtown Rats' latest EP, Out The Back Of Boomtown. It follows on from the first studio album from the band in 36 years, 2020's The Citizens Of Boomtown.
Plus AJ Odudu look back on another weekend of drama from the Strictly dancefloor. AJ is a familiar face on TV as the backstage presenter for The Voice and The Voice Kids, as well as presenting on Lorraine, This Morning, The One Show and hosting the BRIT Awards and TV BAFTAs red carpet coverage. Recently she's fronted ITV's Don't Rock The Boat alongside Freddie Flintoff and Apocalypse Wow.

One of the pleasures of sitting in our living room on an evening is the frequent bursts of laughter that emanate through our neighbour鈥檚 wall. We love it! Lawrence is famously generous with his wonderful home-made wines (which I鈥檝e learned to apply in moderation!) But he and his wife turn out to be even more generous with their merriment 鈥� wonderful howls of laughter while watching their favourite TV show or whatever. And once they start, we鈥檙e off, laughing with them...and we didn鈥檛 even hear the joke! It鈥檚 strange how laughter is so contagious, even when we don鈥檛 know what it鈥檚 about. Or in our case when we鈥檙e not even in the same room. Scientists have all kinds of explanations for this, but I guess what we all know is that laughter uniquely brings people together. As someone said, it鈥檚 the shortest distance between two people. It鈥檚 also (as the Bible says) a marvellous medicine for the soul.聽
I learned laughter from my mum 鈥� who鈥檚 birthday it would have been last week. Some of my earliest memories are of her laughing with my dad. Hers wasn鈥檛 an easy life: caring for a disabled husband, and they were constantly casting around to make ends meet. But my mum laughed. I mean, when something tickled her, she became a world champion laugher. And I鈥檓 sure that helped her through 鈥� as well as shaping my approach to life. The other great laughing inspiration for me is Desmond Tutu (who turned 90 on Thursday). The archbishop鈥檚 laughter is legendary. I鈥檒l be surprised if it hasn鈥檛 been heard in space! But best of all, he has used laughter as a transformative force for good 鈥� disarming angry opponents, taking the mick out of racism and other prejudices, bringing people together.聽
To me, laughter is a spiritual quality 鈥� no less than any other. It鈥檚 our capacity to discover hope, to transcend ourselves and our circumstances, to assert a different perspective on life. Personally, I find it鈥檚 difficult to stay angry or grumpy or self-important or hopeless when I鈥檓 laughing. It reframes my life, my attitude, my outlook. So, if laughter really is medicine for the soul, I reckon I鈥檒l do my best to go get as much as I can...聽
