Live from Coventry: Celebrating the City of Culture
Stuart hosts a special show from Coventry, celebrating this year's city of culture. With poets John Bernard, Amanda Dalton, Jane Commane and City of Culture's Chenine Bhathena
Stuart Maconie presents solo, live from Coventry for a special show of music and guests, celebrating the city of culture.
Coventry is UK City of Culture 2021 and the location for the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Arts’ annual poetry and spoken word festival ‘Contains Strong Language’ this year.
Ahead of his special Freak Zone show at Contains Strong Language Festival in Coventry later today, Stuart hosts a Coventry breakfast show special.
As well as playing a selection of music from city, Stuart is joined by special guests to talk about the festival, life in Coventry and how the city has shaped them. He is joined by poet and rapper John Bernard who is part of Contains Strong Language’s ‘Youthful Cities Programme’ – a cultural exhange between Coventry and four international cities; Nairobi, Bogotá, Detroit, and Beirut, culminating in the creation of new artworks. He also talks to poet Amanda Dalton about growing up in Coventry and poet Jane Commane about the festival. Plus City of Culture Creative Director Chenine Bhathena tells Stuart more about the events happening in the city over the next year.
Plus a finely balanced blend of new and old music, setting you up for a Sunday, including tracks from The Specials, Pa Salieu, The Primitives and The Selecter.
