Glen Ballard and Alan Silvestri choose the Tracks of My Years
Songwriter and producer Glen Ballard and film composer Alan Silvestri - who collaborate on a new musical - choose the Tracks of My Years. Plus there's another round of PopMaster.
Emmy and Grammy Award-winning composer Alan Silvestri and six-time Grammy Award-winning songwriter Glen Ballard choose the Tracks of My Years. The musical pair's latest collaboration includes new music and lyrics for 'Back To The Future - The Musical'. The musical’s out-of-town opening at Manchester Opera House in March 2020 received an incredible reaction from critics and the public alike, but was cut short when theatres were closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic exactly a year ago. It is now up and running again in London's West End.
'Back to the Future' the movie was originally released in 1985, starring Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly and Christopher Lloyd as Dr Emmett Brown. The film grossed £279 million at the box office worldwide and the total box office for all three films in the Back to the Future franchise was a staggering £675 million which is around £1.3 billion in today's money.
Glen has in the past worked with Aretha Franklin, Van Halen, Aerosmith and Katy Perry, to name a few. He co-wrote and produced the multi-platinum 'Jagged Little Pill' for Alanis Morissette, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.
Alan is Back To The Future creator Bob Zemeckis' right hand man and has scored for all three films in the series, as well as 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit,' 'Death Becomes Her', 'Forrest Gump', 'Cast Away' and 'The Polar Express'. He won two Grammy Awards for ‘Believe’ from The Polar Express, and for 'Cast Away'.
The first two tracks the pair have chosen come from The Beatles and Dionne Warwick. Ken also has another round of the PopMaster Music Quiz. If you'd like to get in touch with the show email Ken.Bruce@bbc.co.uk
