Seonaid Aitken charts the evolution of jazz from its early roots up to the present day including music from Scott Joplin, Duke Ellington, Nubya Garcia and Moses Boyd.

Seonaid Aitken charts the evolution of jazz from its early roots up to the present day. From the ragtime of pianist Scott Joplin through to music from the swing and big band era featuring Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington and Count Basie and right up to the sounds of the be-bop, free-jazz and fusion periods of jazz. Singer Georgia Cecile picks some of her favourite jazz vocal tracks, and pianist Richard Michael鈥檚 Song Book features Jelly Roll Morton鈥檚 1920鈥檚 classic King Porter Stomp. We also hear some modern examples of jazz from Nubya Garcia, Moses Boyd and The Comet Is Coming who weave other influences into their music including punk, hip-hop and reggae.
