Scott Mills sits in with Mabel choosing the Tracks of My Years
BRIT Award-winning singer Mabel chooses the Tracks of My Years. Scott has your love song dedications plus another round of the legendary music quiz PopMaster.
BRIT Award-winning singer Mabel chooses the Tracks of My Years with Scott all this week. Born in the mountains of Malaga, Spain, the 25 year old artist first burst on to the music scene in 2015 with her debut single 'Know Me Better'. Her early material led to the surprise breakthrough of 'Finders Keepers' in 2017 which went platinum, spending five weeks in the top ten and saw her nominated for the Critics' Choice Award at the BRITs. She's gone on to tour with stars such as Harry Styles, selling out her own dates around the world including playing at Wembley to a packed stadium whilst flying the rainbow flag. She's the daughter of producer Cameron McVey, best known for his seminal work with Massive Attack, Portishead, Sugababes and All Saints, while Mabel's mother is Neneh Cherry, the cross-generational music and style superstar who enjoyed chart success in the late eighties and early nineties with hits such as 'Buffalo Stance' and 'Manchild'.
In 2019 Mabel achieved her biggest hit single to date with 鈥楧on鈥檛 Call Me Up鈥, co-written by Steve Mac - whose other hits include Ed Sheeran鈥檚 鈥楽hape Of You鈥 and Years & Years鈥 鈥業f You鈥檙e Over Me鈥. Last year she was crowned Best British Female Solo Artist at the Brit Awards.
Her brand new single 'Let Them Know' is out now and she'll be performing live at various festivals throughout the summer including Latitude, Reading and Leeds.
The first two tracks Mabel has chosen come from Minnie Riperton and Stevie Wonder. Scott also has the daily love song, record and album of the week plus another round of PopMaster. If you'd like to get in touch email Scott.Mills@bbc.co.uk
