Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt tell Zoe about their new Disney movie, Jungle Cruise. Inspired by the famous Disneyland theme park ride, Jungle Cruise is an action-packed, thrill-ride down the Amazon with wisecracking skipper Frank Wolff and intrepid researcher Dr. Lily Houghton. Set during the early 20th century, Lily and her brother MacGregor travel from London to the jungle and enlist Frank's questionable services to guide her downriver on La Quila, his ramshackle-but-charming boat. Dwayne Johnson stars as "Skipper" Frank Wolff, a shrewd and cynical but noble steamboat captain who reluctantly agrees to guide two explorers on their quest for the Tree of Life. Emily Blunt is as Dr. Lily Houghton, an eccentric, adventurous, and virtuous scientist searching for the Tree of Life, which she hopes to study for its healing properties.

Anne-Marie performs music from her brand new album live from the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ's Maida Vale Studios. Pause For Thought

Pause For Thought

Great excitement in the parish of Finedon last week with the delivery of our new sit-on lawn mower. No longer will we have to push the old one round the churchyard; henceforth we are to grass cutting what Jeff Bezos is to earth orbit.

Ìý

And what a beauty! Super-tight 46cm turning-circle, six-speed Transmatic drive, three mowing modes, high-capacity grass-catcher, five step cutting height, with a powerful 400cc single pot four stroke. And it comes in Lamborghini yellow. Ìý

Ìý

My excitement at this was tempered by prudence. For we are not just cutting the churchyard grass, we are selectively cutting it, so that our policy of both tending and wilding may be fulfilled. We have one graveyard that has been left untouched, and another, around the church, that is a compromise, well-tended for those who want that sort of thing, and part uncut to preserve and sustain wildlife and habitat.Ìý

Ìý

Very Church of England this, to buy a gas guzzling mower to help preserve the environment, a typical compromise, trying to reconcile irreconcilable ends, without everyone falling out.Ìý

Ìý

Easier said than done, and we often fail, because irreconcilable ends sometimes really are that - just look at the Church’sÌýdeadlocked efforts to fully include LGBT+ people.

Ìý

This is not only a problem for churches. You will have seen in the news that Liverpool’s waterfront has been stripped by UNESCO of its World Heritage status. No longer will the Liver Building and Albert Docks stand as equals alongside the Pyramids, the Taj Mahal, and the rose red city of Petra (half as old as time). A £500m stadium for Everton is promised and a mini Hong Kong of posh flats instead.

Ìý

Opinion, as you would expect in the most argumentative city in England, is divided, with some calling for the immediate cancellation of development to preserve a great maritime city, and others, just as passionate, arguing for the regeneration of a post-industrial waterfront that history left behind.

Ìý

Often, as a Vicar, I feel pretty marginal to the concerns of most people but not in this, for it is literally my job to be faithful to a tradition we serve, and to be alert for the signs of God’s new creation. And if we can resolve care and maintenance of a simple country churchyard, then maybe we can offer some useful reflection to a divided and fractious world.Ìý

Ìý

Liverpool, I await your call.
