"I'll come back when it's over!"
The hit song that one lead singer hated so much he walked out.
Dessie in Belfast says he read that John Lennon hated the Beatles song, Ob-La-Di-Ob-La-Da...
"Is that so?" Sean says. "Well the guys in Marmalade, who had a hit with it, they hated it too, as far as I heard. I remember one night in Letterkenny, we had a sixties weekend, and Willie Deery had brought over Marmalade. And when the show was over at about half past one people retired to the bar, and there was a bit of a sing-song, and the guys from the band came in, and someone started singing Ob-La-Di-Ob-La-Da... and the lead singer ran out of the bar... 'I'll come back when it's over!'"
With music from The Mamas & the Papas, John Denver, The Bedrocks, Johnny Tillotson, and more.
