Stuart Maconie presents a special programme celebrating the 50th anniversary of Joni Mitchell’s album ‘Blue’. The album, originally released on 22nd June 1971, is now regarded as one of the as one of the greatest albums of all time and has gone on to inspire a generation of musicians.
Guest Pauline Black of ska band The Selecter discusses her life-long love of the music of Joni Mitchell, and talks about how much the album means to her. Mark and Stuart also hear from Joni Mitchell fan and writer David Mitchell who talks about the impact the album had on him when he first discovered it as a student in the mid 80’s.
Stuart plays a selection of tracks from Blue, including live performances Joni recorded for the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ in 1970. They discuss the album's impact and influence on the music and artists that followed.
