Richie is in Amy Macdonald's garden for the Big Bee Challenge and Jack Savoretti performs live
Amy Macdonald lets Richie Anderson into her garden in Glasgow for Radio 2's Big Bee Challenge plus Jack Savoretti performs live from the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ's Maida Vale studios.
Richie Anderson is out on the road for the Big Bee Challenge and is dropping in to see some of our favourite celebrities. It's all part of Radio 2's Big Bee Challenge, where we can all do something to help the dwindling bee population. Richie shows that no matter the size of your garden, balcony or window box, you can make a difference to help the bees and have some fun along the way.
Today singer Amy Macdonald has let him into her garden in Glasgow to look at all the ways she can help the bees, plus she plays a special acoustic version of her recent single Statues, from her latest album, The Human Demands. Amy has performed across the world in front of a total of 3.3 million people, accumulated over 200 million music streams, landed four Top 5 albums (including her #1 debut) and sold six million albums. Her landmark hit, This Is The Life, topped the charts in ten countries.
They're joined by bee enthusiast, bee keeper and member of the Scottish Beekeepers Association, Amanda Millen, who guides Amy though making her own bee watering station.
Jack Savoretti performs live from the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ's Maida Vale studios with music from his new album Europiana. Cam Blackwood (who has previously worked with George Ezra, London Grammar, Florence & The Machine), produced the album, recorded late last year at Abbey Road with Jack’s long time touring band. John Oates plays guitar and sang backing vocals, from Nashville, on the lush ‘When You’re Lonely’. Much of the 11 track album concerns itself with family, friendship and the precarious nature of love so it’s not surprising that Jack’s wife and children sing on a few tracks. Jack has sold over 550,000 albums in the UK alone and secured 3 consecutive Top 10 Gold certified albums, including the No.1 ‘Singing To Strangers’, which has amassed over 65 million streams globally.
Along with Clare Runacres on news, Richie Anderson on travel and Chris Latchem on sport, Zoe and the team have the best start to your morning. With celeb guests, headlines, tunes chosen by listeners and more music than you can shake a glitterball at!
There's also a Pause For Thought from Paul Karensa and listeners on the line as Zoe entertains the nation with fun for the family!
