For the Radio 2 Culture Club, Jo chats to comedian Alan Davies about his podcast Seven Pillars.

For the Radio 2 Culture Club, Jo chats to comedian Alan Davies about his show Seven Pillars, and he chooses his top 3 podcasts.

In this podcast, Alan Davies talk to mavericks and visionaries, storytellers and comedians, entrepreneurs and artists from around the world and asks them: What do you value most? What influences you? What inspires you? Who shaped you as a person?

Everyone needs a bank of inspiration. Everyone has loves and passions, across different aspects of life and culture. These are the things that enrich and sustain our lives. During this current climate we have increasingly realised what we treasure most – and much of it is related to art, film, music, stories, culture, sport, play, food, drink, and our most precious memories.

What are your seven pillars of wisdom?

And through these seven prisms they say something about themselves, their life and work, and most importantly what they love most and are passionate about. From food and drink to culture, play and memory – the podcast reflects and focuses on seven questions that will spark stories for the guests and give the listener an insight into the minds and thoughts of some of the most unusual and interesting people around.

Guests for series 1 include Romesh Ranganathan, Walton Goggins, Jo Brand, Darren Harriot, Isy Suttie, Pat Nevin, Katherine Parkinson, Jay Parini and Josh Widdicombe.

Alan Davies is one of Britain’s most successful and best-loved comedians, writers and actors. From his groundbreaking stand-up comedy, to his eponymous performance as the crime-solving Jonathan Creek, to his role as a panellist who helped make the wonderful ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ institution of QI what it is and today – Alan is one of the most down to earth but erudite voices in British culture. He’s also a keen Arsenal fan, hosts his brilliant podcast The Tuesday Club, and has published two books.
