It’s the end of an era for Ed, and Lee makes an impression.

Ed and Jazzer chat during a break in shearing. Jazzer admits to feeling it this year. Ed teases him about getting old. But Jazzer wants to hang up his clippers. Once he starts at Berrow Farm he’ll need his days off – maybe he’s settling down a bit. Ed admits he’ll miss him. Jazzer suggests George might want to give shearing a go as his replacement. Ed sees this might work, but is cautious – George is very much a teenager with his own ideas. Meanwhile Jazzer challenges Ed to a shearing race tomorrow; we’ll see who’s getting old!
Lee’s finding Jack and Henry exhausting; he’d forgotten what’s it’s like to entertain a five year old. He does love playing with them though, and Helen assures him it’s mutual. They might just need to set a time limit on the drum playing! Lee looks forward to the boys’ bedtime and getting Helen to himself, but Helen informs him Joy’s dropping in for nibbles later. When she arrives they apologise for the drum noise, but Joy thinks it’s fine – she loves to hear children playing. She lets slip there’s a residents’ WhatsApp group. Helen’s lukewarm, but Lee’s eager to join. As Joy and Lee gossip happily, he can’t wait to get involved. Joy’s a little reticent but promises to add Lee to the group soon. Helen observes wryly that as the two of them are getting on famously, she’ll go and read Henry’s bedtime story. She leaves them to it.
