James Newman chooses his final Tracks of My Years

James Newman, this year's UK Eurovision entry, chooses the Tracks of My Years ahead of the final in Rotterdam on May 22nd. There's also record and album of the week and PopMaster.

James Newman, Brit award winning singer songwriter representing the UK in this year's Eurovision Song Contest, chooses the Tracks of My Years. The contest - postponed last year because of the Covid 19 pandemic - takes place in Rotterdam, The Netherlands on May 22nd where James will be performing his new song 'Embers'. The track was recorded last year and among the co-writers are Tom Hollings and Samuel Brennan who recently scored a big hit with Nathan Evans' sea shanty-inspired 'Wellerman'.

Last year James co-wrote ‘My Last Breath’ with acclaimed British songwriters Ed Drewett, Iain James and Adam Argyle which was the song entered by the UK in last year’s competition before it was postponed. James released his debut EP ‘The Things We Do’ in Summer 2020 and ended the year with another new collaboration with Armin Van Buuren, ‘Slow Lane’.

James won a Brit for British Single of the Year in 2014 for ‘Waiting All Night’, which was performed by Rudimental and Ella Eyre. He has also written hit singles ‘Lay It All On Me’ performed by Rudimental ft Ed Sheeran, ‘Blame’ performed by Calvin Harris ft. John Newman, and ‘Therapy, performed by Armin Van Buuren and James Newman.

Ken will be in his Eurovision commentary booth on the night of the final bringing you all the details of this much-loved song contest right here on Radio 2.

The next two tracks James has chosen come Dolly Parton & Kenny Rogers and Rudimental featuring John Newman. There's also the daily love song, record and album of the week plus PopMaster. If you'd like to get in touch with the show email Ken.Bruce@bbc.co.uk
