Eddie Izzard and Paul Weller

Eddie Izzard tells Zoe about her latest stand up show. Paul Weller has live music recorded at home and chats to Zoe about his new album.

Eddie Izzard tells Zoe about her latest stand up show. Filmed in 2019 during the Wunder tour, this ‘as live’ event will be the first chance to enjoy the show away from theatres. Wunderbar expands on Eddie’s previous work and illustrates her unique, surreal view of life, love, history and her ‘theory of the universe’. The show also features a brand-new introduction from Eddie and a post-show Q&A. Wunderbar began life at La Nouvelle Seine, a floating theatre in Paris on the Seine where Eddie began to improvise the show in French. She then flipped countries and continued developing the show, improvising once again in German in Berlin. After more development in English, Eddie was ready to share the show with the world and this one night only event will be the first opportunity for audiences to enjoy the show from the comfort of their living room.

Paul Weller has recorded live music from home exclusively for the show from his new album FAT POP (Volume 1). It's his 16th solo LP and Paul of course found fame with The Jam and had later success with The Style Council before becoming a hugely popular and influencial solo artist. He's won four Brit Awards, winning the award for Best British Male twice, and the 2006 Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music.

Along with Clare Runacres on news, Richie Anderson on travel and Mike Williams on sport, Zoe and the team have the best start to your morning. With celeb guests, headlines, tunes chosen by listeners, and more music that you can shake a glitterball at!

There's also a daily Pause For Thought and listeners on the line, as Zoe entertains the nation with fun for the family!

Pause For Thought

Pause For Thought

I have many faults Zoe, and one of them is my lack of patience. I like an instant result. One 5k run and I expect to be ready for a marathon and surely half an hour of yoga makes me Gwyneth Paltrow. It’s probably why I’m no good at making risotto.Ìý

Ìý

Unlike my vicar chum Rachel, who when she arrived shiny, new and fresh out of the box in her parish decided to move the church piano. It was in the wrong place, obstructing her view of the congregation a nudge of a mere 2 metres to the left should do it. No big deal. Before the service on her first Sunday she decided to shift it herself. But she was interrupted by the churchwarden, who didn’t agree. There would need to be a meeting, a discussion with the church council and a vote.ÌýÌýRachel, being wise, stopped what she was doing and thought of another, more patient route.Ìý

Ìý

She was at that church, Zoe, for 5 years and every Sunday she would come in before the service and move the piano, by just one centimetre. By the time she left the piano was just where it should be, the congregation barely noticed, and I suspect that the next vicar to try and move the piano was probably told, ‘But it’s always been there.’ Rachel played the long game and in the process change came without pain.

Ìý

The bible has many stories of those whose quiet determination and gentle tenacity paid off, Anna who went to the temple every day until she got to see Jesus and Queen Esther who persistently petitioned the King for justice for the people who were being marginalised. Women of courage and patience. The book of Hebrews says ‘So let us run the race before us with perseverance.’Ìý

Ìý

It can be frustrating when change doesn’t happen as quickly as we’d like, particularly when it comes to making the world a fairer place. And while there are stories of injustices that were defeated overnight, mostly when radical change does come, it’s after years of campaigning and persuasion and nudging things ever so slowly in the right direction, like my friend Rachel. So the lesson is for me to keep on keeping on and praying the prayer, ‘Lord give me patience, but give it meÌýNOW!’
