Noel Gallagher, Carol Klein and Jay's Virtual Radio Quiz

Noel Gallagher calls in with some big news and Carol Klein tells Zoe about her new gardening series for Channel 5. Plus Jay Flynn returns with his Virtual Radio Quiz.

Noel Gallagher calls in to tell Zoe about some very exciting news. As the lead guitarist, songwriter, and occasional vocalist for Oasis, Noel Gallagher played a tremendous role in shaping British rock music from the 1990s onwards. After the band split in 2009, Noel went on to form a new project of his own, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, releasing a self-titled record later that year which topped the UK charts. The EP Blue Moon Rising, which featured the single Wandering Star, was his most recent release in March 2020.

Carol Klein, legendary gardener, tells Zoe about her brand new series for Channel 5. Carol has been honing her horticultural skills at Glebe Cottage for more than 40 years. Week by week, and working hand in hand with Mother Nature, she explains how she nurtures her own garden throughout the season, and shows us how she carries out spring tasks and projects, at just the very time when we need to know. From complete novices to experienced gardeners, Carol equips us with the skills and inspiration to make our springtime gardens grow. Gardening expert Carol Klein continues to help and enthrall Britain鈥檚 gardeners from her own cottage garden in Devon, and, this time, during the spring season.

Jay Flynn returns with another round of his Virtual Radio Quiz where he tests the team on their general knowledge to see who comes out on top.

Along with Clare Runacres on news, Richie Anderson on travel and Mike Williams on sport, Zoe and the team have the best start to your morning. With celeb guests, quizzes, headlines, tunes chosen by listeners and more music than you can shake a glitterball at!

There's also a Pause For Thought from Krish Kandiah and listeners on the line as Zoe entertains the nation with fun for the family!

Pause For Thought

Pause For Thought

We have lived in our current home for the past 14 years. Tomorrow we move. With all of our worldly belongings packed into cardboard boxes I admit I am feeling a little nostalgic.听听

Our six children spent most of their childhoods in the same house. I am reminded of this whenever I look at the door covered in pencilled lines and dates marking their vertical growth. Or when I see the hedge that has been the backdrop for all the annual first-day-back-at-school photos.听

Our hallway holds significant memories too 鈥 the place where I first met the 25 different children we went on to foster. Some arriving with police escorts, some with social workers, with a bin bag containing their few belongings, with all their scars and fears. Weeks, months or years later we waved them off again from a driveway we are now leaving behind too.听

As I reflect on these memories, I remember that Jesus never had a home to call his own. He once said about himself.听鈥淔oxes have dens, and birds have nests, but the Son of听Man听has no place to lay his head.鈥

God鈥檚 son听as Christians believe Jesus was,听considered himself homeless when he came into our world. He was born into a borrowed animal stall, grew up as refugee in Egypt, and spent his adult life relying on the generosity and hospitality of friends and strangers.听

Nevertheless Jesus also modelled to the world what it meant to welcome those who needed it: the social outcast, the hungry, the poor, the sick, the dying, the broken.听

As听I look around at my nearly empty house I realise that although I am much richer than Jesus was in terms of possessions, I am much poorer than him in my hospitality to others.听

It is said that an听Englishman鈥檚 home is his castle - a place to protect and shield ourselves from the worries of the world. But I believe we must see our homes differently. They are hostels for the traveller, hospitals for the sick and safe havens for those needing respite from the storms of life.听

Well that鈥檚 my plan for our new house.听听After 14 years and 30 kids I鈥檝e just got a little bit more packing to get through first.听
