M贸ragallamh le Charlie Mac 脥omhair faoina shaol peile agus sacair.

Charlie McGeever reflects on a life in Gaelic football and soccer.

Is beag bainisteoir amuigh ansin a dtiocfadh leo a r谩 go raibh siad i mbun foirne i gcluiche ceannais uile-脡ireann agus cluiche ceannais sacair Corn FAI. Ach n铆l ansin ach ceann amh谩in de na ruda铆 at谩 bainte amach ag Charlie McGeever sa d谩 sp贸rt, agus murach an gort煤 tubaisteach a bhuail 茅 agus 茅 go measartha 贸g, bheadh an deis aige n铆os m贸 f贸s a dh茅anamh. Agus 茅 ag f谩s an铆os faoin tuath i nGaeltacht Th铆r Chonaill, i gceantar ina raibh ceangal l谩idir le Glasch煤, bh铆 liathr贸id peile n贸 liathr贸id sacair ina ghlac aige gach deis a fuair s茅. Go dt铆 an l谩 at谩 inniu ann, t谩 baint aige go f贸ill leis an d谩 sp贸rt, agus 茅 anois lonnaithe i gContae Thiobraid 脕rainn lena chlann. Is uaidh sin a labhair s茅 le Fearghal Mag Uiginn don eagr谩n speisialta seo de 脫n Taobhl铆ne.

There aren鈥檛 many managers who can say they have taken charge of teams in both an FAI Cup final and an All-Ireland football final. But Charlie McGeever is one. Growing up in rural Donegal with strong links to Glasgow, the sports of soccer and Gaelic football were interchangeable and complementary to each other in his development as a player. Despite his footballing career being hampered by injury at a young age, he continued to enjoy playing a part in both sports both on and off the field, right up to the present day. He is now based in Tipperary with his family and he spoke to us from there for this special edition of 脫n Taobhl铆ne with Fearghal Mag Uiginn.
