Johnnie’s here to guide you through another superb playlist of the decade’s finest music.

His guest this week is a musician whose ’Stop The Cavalry’ is now a Christmas staple.

Jona Lewie’s chart career actually began in 1972 under the alias of Terry Dactyl & The Dinosaurs, the group who landed a massive summertime hit with the infectiously catchy ‘Seaside Shuffle’. He signed to the legendary Stiff Records in the late ’70s, and just before it looked like he was about to be dropped, he delivered two great songs that pretty much set him up for life. He’ll be chatting on the phone about his career and, since it’s nearly Christmas, picking his favourite seasonal song of the decade.

A folk trio from Gateshead are the newest additions to Johnnie’s ever-expanding jukebox. Their hauntingly beautiful 1974 a cappella single has been chosen by Mike Liddington from Duns.

This Week In Music features a former Supreme, a Rolling Stones legend, and one of the greatest British voices in rock, all of whom are celebrating birthdays.
