Bruno Mars chooses the Tracks of My Years
Bruno Mars chooses the Tracks of My Years in an interview first broadcast in 2013. There's the daily love song and another round of PopMaster.
Bruno Mars, American singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, chooses the Tracks of My Years in an interview first broadcast in 2013. It came at the time he'd recently released his second studio album 'Unorthodox Jukebox', the follow-up to his debut record 'Doo-Wops & Hooligans'. The album topped the charts in the UK and won the Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album in 2014. Bruno was also about to embark on his Moonshine Jungle UK tour where he was praised for his energetic and genre-jumping performances as well as his abilities on the drums, guitar and special effects. The tour turned out to be an absolute sell-out attracting a wide ranging audience of all age groups. Since then Bruno has produced another very successful album entitled '24K Magic' which became his first number one album on the US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. It peaked at number three in the UK and produced five singles including the title track, 'That's What I Like' and 'Finesse' a remix featuring the rapper and songwriter Cardi B.
In 2014 Bruno teamed up with British-American songwriter and producer Mark Ronson to release the mega-hit 'Uptown Funk' . The song became a worldwide phenomenon with a major impact on pop culture. At one point, the single broke its own streaming record three times in the UK with around 2.56 million streams. It also broke the record for the most streamed track in America and worldwide in one week.
The first two tracks Bruno has chosen come from Gnarls Barkley and Roy Orbison. Ken also has the daily love song, record and album of the week plus PopMaster. If you'd like to get in touch with the show email Ken.Bruce@bbc.co.uk
