What TV ad used 'I'm Sorry But I'm Going To Have To Pass'?
Doc thinks the jivers were outside the Palace Cinema when Rock Around The Clock was first shown in Derry in the 1950s. Hugh Kelly said it was the City Picture House in William Street and not the Palace. Michael McBride was there that night and he confirms it was the City. But the film was actually The Blackboard Jungle. Rock Around The Clock was on the soundtrack.
Doc also says that Chubby Checker's backing band was called The Draughtsmen, but Sean doesn't think that's true.
Eugene went to see the Karl Denver Trio but Karl never turned up so they went to see Chubby Checker in the Half Way House in Tooban instead.
Maggie May is a great record, but it is far too long. You could fall asleep listening to it and when you waken up Rod Stewart is still singing it.
