Young Trad at 20: Where Are They Now? with Mohsen Amini

Bruce MacGregor hears about Rachel Newton's new album and he's joined by concertina virtuoso Mohsen Amini for the next instalment of Young Trad at 20: Where Are They Now?

‘To the Awe’ is Scottish singer, harpist and 2017 ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Radio 2 Folk Musician of the Year Rachel Newton’s fifth solo album. The album is a tribute to the women who have inspired her and influenced her own work around the representation of women in the music industry. Rachel joins Bruce to speak about these incredible women and how she has drawn upon poems and ballads that are hundreds of years old to create an album that is contemporary, unique and full of drama.

And in the second hour, Bruce continues the Young Trad at 20: Where Are They Now? series - celebrating 20 years of the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year Award by getting to know each and every one of its previous champions. This week 2016 winner and concertina virtuoso Mohsen Amini is in conversation with Bruce and chats about the profound impact that winning the competition has had on his career.
