The ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ has seen video evidence that livestock from the UK is ending up in abbatoirs in the Lebanon and Libya.

The ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ has seen video evidence that livestock from the UK is ending up in abattoirs outside Europe. Investigators from animal welfare charities tracked and filmed consignments of cattle over the summer going via Spanish fattening farms to abattoirs in the Lebanon and Libya.

Tenant farmers are worried they may not be able to apply for the new Environmental Land Management Schemes, so won’t be able to supplement their income once direct payments to farmers end. Come January subsidy payments to farmers based on the amount of land they have will be phased out over 7 or so years and replaced with a public money for public goods system.

And the Nature Friendly Farm Network is warning that unless the Government ‘urgently’ helps farmers better balance producing food with enhancing the environment then some farmers will go bust.
