05/10/20 Public money for public goods, Finnich Glen

We look into the future of British agriculture after the Common Agricultural Policy. How will the new system work and what do farmers make of it?

The biggest shake up of farming in a generation starts next year once we replace the EU鈥檚 Common Agricultural Policy with a new system. It鈥檒l be phased in over seven or more years and as agriculture is devolved it鈥檒l be different in the four home nations. We ask how it will work and what farmers make of it.
We hear an update from a farmer in Stirlingshire by Finnich Glen, an area made famous by the TV show Outlander. The site has been inundated with visitors who he feels are damaging the land because there is no where to park and no visitor facilities. He hoped to develop a 拢2.7 million visitor centre and car park but the planners say that will ruin the site.

Presented by Charlotte Smith and produced by Beatrice Fenton.
