Prayer for the Day

Good morning聽
As I rise聽 to another day, this one holds the promise of time away from the busy pace of work as it鈥檚 my day off today.聽 Moving home recently has offered me the opportunity to relook at the books and records I鈥檝e held onto and journeyed with through all the different stages of my life, and I have been able to take time out to read, reread and re-listen to them.聽聽
I鈥檝e read new books聽 and old favourites reopened my eyes to the pathos and loneliness of the often hidden world of those who鈥檝e migrated to this country seeking a better life for themselves and their families.聽 Over these months we have recognised essential workers, many on zero hour contracts, keeping offices and streets clean, , delivering the parcels and food聽 that so many of us seem not to be able to do without. Cities and communities are kept going by these people and amongst them have been the contributions of people with worldwide heritages, people for whom journeying is an ever present reality.聽聽
Perhaps even more than usual, most of us would have felt that we have been on a quite uncertain journey like many of those who migrate are on聽 despite the worries聽 and changes we鈥檝e all moved inexorably forward. Despite the challenges of the journey ahead, as Maya Angelou says, like air we rise.聽聽
Loving God, may your Holy Spirit be ever present as the breath we breathe and help us to continue to, rise, to rise, to rise.聽Amen聽
