10/09/20 - Organics after Brexit, Robot Milkers and the Royal Highland Show in need

If the UK doesn't get a trade deal with the EU, British producers will no longer be able to sell their products as organic in the EU or Northern Ireland.

The UK and EU have not agreed to accept each other's organic standards after Brexit and a group representing the organic sector has written to the government warning that if they don't, British organic food producers will not be legally allowed to sell their products as organic in the EU - or in Northern Ireland, due to its status as part of the EU's regulatory regime. UK producers currently export around 225 million pounds worth of organic food and drink to the EU every year.

Our focus on automation takes a look at livestock, specifically robot milkers. The cows effectively milk themselves - they make their own way to the dairy from the fields as and when they choose. Each has an electronic ear tag so the robots know which one's which.

And the charity that runs the Royal Highland Show says its lost around 拢6 million pounds after cancelling the show due to Covid restrictions. It wants to raise 2 million to ensure the show鈥檚 future.
