Rumer, Scottish Director Eva Riley on Perfect 10 and Film Reviews
Award-winning British vocalist Rumer discusses her new album and single.
Grant Stott will be in conversation with Rumer; who has just released a brand new single ‘Deep Summer In The South’; the latest song to be taken from her upcoming album, Nashville Tears She has long been enamoured with the storytelling of country music and while living in the American South, away from the international spotlight, her passion for musical discovery led her to Nashville Songwriters Hall of Famer, Hugh Prestwood’s work. His songs were the catalyst for Nashville Tears; fifteen of the songwriter’s finest gems, The Award-winning British vocalist will be discussing it all and looking back over her remarkable career in music.
Scottish director Eva Riley will also be on hand to discuss her debut feature; the dazzling coming-of-age tale Perfect 10. A tender portrait of a teenage gymnast who meets her half-brother for the first time, it’s a drama in the social-realist tradition of Ken Loach and Andrea Arnold.
Grant will also be hosting our Film Review Hour when he’ll discuss Babyteeth the critically acclaimed Australian coming-of-age comedy-drama about a seriously ill teenager who falls for a small-time drug dealer; her parents disapprove but she soon finds a new lust for life from her blossoming romance…
Pinnochio – starring Roberto Benigni is also under review; the great Italian Director Matteo Garrone carves this classic tale into something completely new as Geppetto and his put-upon puppet explore their father-son dynamic in this revitalised telling of the Italian favourite, enhanced by magical social realism and some seriously impressive prosthetics!
All that and he’ll revisit a contemporary classic about schooldays - Dazed and Confused is a 1993 American coming-of-age comedy film written and directed by Richard Linklater. It follows different groups of Texas teenagers during the last day of school in 1976 and features a large ensemble cast of actors who would later become stars, including Ben Affleck, Milla Jovovich, Parker Posey, Adam Goldberg, Matthew McConaughey and Renée Zellweger.
